My Gear
I spend a lot of time working at my desk, so I’ve spent a lot of time working on my desk
My work setup…
I use a lot of gear from my company and some personal favorites. For monitors, I don’t use anything special here and don’t actually know the models they’ve provided. I have a DELL Precision laptop with 16 GB RAM which stays tucked under my desk in clamshell. I usually use my 2021 iPad Pro (pictured more clearly below) as a productivity dashboard showing Timery, Outlook, and Todoist widgets. (Yes, that iPad is dramatically overspeced for this purpose.) I love my Razor Pro Type Ultra keyboard and Logitech MX Master mouse.
I recently added an Elgato MX Wave 3 along with their shock mount, pop filter, and low-profile mic arm. Accompanying those items are the BASN Bmaster in Ear Monitors. I’m still trying these items out, so can’t recommend them too emphatically quite yet.
My school setup…
For my personal/school setup, I’ve been much more intentional (and sunk much more cash into it). I have a Mac Studio with 64 GB of RAM, 2 TB of storage, and an M1 Max chip. This has so far been more than enough for my needs in grad school. The main landscape monitor is an Apple Studio Display, I’ve relocated my HP 24f, which was gifted to me long ago, to my desk at a local coworking space (not pictured). To round out the Apple gear, I have a Magic Keyboard, a Magic Trackpad, a pair of AirPods Max, and a HomePod. I use the AirPods Max when I need to focus and the HomePod Mini for background music and podcasts. I primarily use a second Logitech MX Master mouse, but have recently added the trackpad for gestures.
I’ve also come to love my Ember mug as of late.
When I’m on the go…
The corner of my corner desk just stores my most recent computing purchase, a 14” M2 MacBook Air in Midnight. This serves as a lightweight device that I can take when I need to write code on a go. If I just need to take notes or watch lectures, I’m more likely to take the iPad Pro with its Magic Keyboard case (not pictured).
All together…
I’ll round this out with a few more favorites. I’m a big fan of the Studio Neat Mark 1 pens which are resting on a pen holder by the same company. The background highlights the 2025 Focused Calendar. not pictured here is my desk chair, the Herman Miller Vantum, which has been a game changer.
