My name is Nick Lewis.

Professionally, I’m a data scientist currently focussed on energy efficiency and beneficial electrification, a student pursuing his Master’s degree at Georgia Tech, and a bit of a nerd.

Personally, I’m a runner, hiker, guitarist, and nerd.

I grew up in central Illinois, where there are hardly any hills, much less mountains. I also grew up a Boy Scout. I’ve had the privilege of taking a trek through Philmont, New Mexico, running hikes up 14ers in Colorado, and, for the last several years, exploring the Smokies. Pursuing nature is a big part of my life.

I apply that love for nature alongside my passion for machine learning, at the Tennessee Valley Authority.

I love design problems: questions that have a theoretical “best” answer that can’t just be calculated but requires a certain amount of style. I approach everything in my career through this mindset: designing interfaces that best fit changing human intuition, balancing database normalization with flexibility, and building models that intuitively fit a problem structure and are robust to the real world.
